Episode 1 of The Curly Buzz

The Curly Buzz
Welcome to the first installment of The Curly Buzz.
The Curly Buzz is an online broadcast of interesting people, information, events and products that are buzzing in the virtual natural hair community.
Today’s topics are Youtubers, Meetups, Challenges and Video Help.

Youtuber Spot Light
If it were not for the YouTubers uploading videos then we wouldn’t know half the stuff we know about natural hair.  YouTubers are out Godsend and I love them all and these are just three who’re in the buzz.
TastiRedBone is your goto girl for reviews.  She’s always reviewing new products and don’t mind telling the truth about a product! I love honest reviews and she gives totally honest reviews, not only about the product, but about the packaging, customer service and mail time.
It’s summertime and natural hair care can become a challenge for some.  160days2lose has uploaded two videos of a three part series, “Tips for Natural Hair Care in the Summer” to help us learn how to keep our natural hair from becoming a dry and brittle in sweltering heat of summer.
If you want to see real big hair then Kylahsmom1 is your woman.  A self proclaimed product junkie, she does twist outs, henna treatments and product reviews.

Meet-ups!
It’s summertime and meet-ups are happening all over the country.  The big cities aren’t the only places hosting meet-ups nowadays.  So, more than likely there’s a meet-up within a couple of hours from where you live.
To name a few,
SilkySwag is hosting a meet-up in the DC area on August 13th.
HairCrush has announced that she’s attending the Two Little Black Girls Natural Hair Sip and Social that’s in Jackson, Mississippi.
MissLeeLee37 is planning a meet-up for this fall in Columbus, Georgia.
Just search here on YouTube or on Google for meet-ups in your area.  If you don’t find a meet-up in your area or you’re not willing to travel, then you can plan a meet-up for your area.  Guaranteed there are naturals in your area who are willing to attend.

Challenges!
Challenges, challenges, challenges!
Participating in hair challenges is a great way to encourage hair growth, increase hair retention and promote healthy hair.   Some hair challenges are as little one week and can go to three months, six months, or even up to a year.  Hair challenges are not to be taken lightly and completing a challenge is just as important as starting one.
Blueotlisa has a six month healthy hair challenge going on now until December 31st.  I don’t think it’s too late to join her challenge.
Kurlygirll08 has started a summer protective style hair challenge for the summer.  Her hair challenge will end September 21st.
Hair challenges force you to be accountable to yourself.  If you need a more structured hair challenge then you may need to check out Lovndanaturalme and join her on the zipporah beauty healthy hair challenge.  Zipporah beauty is a natural hair online community site.
If you are really serious about joining a hair challenge then you should check out longhair2014.com website.  This hair challenge is in affect from now until 2014 and they proclaim that in two and a half years everyone should have grown at least fifteen inches of hair.  There’s a registration form and beginning and ending pictures will need to be uploaded.
Video Help
Making YouTube videos can seem daunting to say the least.  And for those of us who dare to make videos, the questions can seem endless. What type of camera to use? What is video editing software? How to use your camera and/or software? And thanks to those few YouTubers out there who don’t mind sharing the knowledge to help us make the best videos possible.
TheCreativeLady has uploaded three YouTube tips videos that I think are great.  I’ve already incorporated some of the simple changes that she suggested to make better quality YouTube videos.
Lisa3876 has several videos on her channel giving YouTube tips, adsense earnings advice and YouTube partner program information.
DKJames5 has recently began a video series to help others maneuver around making YouTube videos.  She uploaded a video on how to make a video intro.
Please take a minute and check out these YouTubers and let them know MsRosieVelt from “The Curly Buzz” sent you!
